Tuesday October 28th 2008

This is just a small note to anyone that may be wondering what the label is up to these days. Two Bucks Records is currently on hiatus and at this stage has no plans on releasing any further music. This decision was made for a many number of reasons and at this point in time I believe is the correct decision. I would like to thank everyone who has ever helped us out, all the bands, anyone who has come to watch the bands and check out their music. We will still be putting on shows and playing active roles in supporting local music in Australia, however not under any label at this point in time. Please continue to support the bands ad anything they may do in the future. The Webstore will continue to operate and if you have trouble getting hold of any of our releases feel free to contact us.
Till next time.

- Footy & The Two Bucks Records Crew 28/10/2008

Sunday December 23rd

Well it has been a long time between updates, but we are still alive and doing stuff at the Two Bucks Records Head Quarters. Looking back at the year just gone, it has been an extremely busy one. With 5 releases, touring an overseas band, a number of other tours and countless amounts of shows, 2007 has definitely not been a quiet one. Since the end of the Superman Is Dead tour in October I decided to have a break with the label until the end of the year, which has been very good.

With 2008 nearly here we plan to get the ball rolling again with some shows and some more tours once the New Year ticks over. Visiting our state in February will be the ever great THE SCANDAL from Tasmania. This will be the bands second time here, first time being for Stolen Youth's CD launch in November 2006. Make sure you check these guys out as they are amazing! There debut album Never Hold To Shore is personally one of my favorite releases by an Australian band. We also have a number of releases planned for 2008, fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Straightaway, from France, will be visiting our shores for a tour mind year. Arrangements are being made at the moment and hopefully everything goes to plan and we will see them playing our stages mid 2008. Make sure you check out there debut album Democracy Of Spreading Poverty, out now on Two Bucks Records.

Thanks to everyone who continues to support the label and the music scenes all around Australia. Without your support this label would not exist, so we appreciate your help. Make sure you check out all the bands on the label as they are all continually doing great stuff, as well as checking out all the great bands in your local music scene.

Tuesday September 4th

This Is A Standoff -- A name almost as long as the distance that separates these four guys. Although formed from opposite sides of the country, this band still manages to get together to write music, tour, and even have a pint or two.

After the demise of one of Canada's hardest working punk bands, Belvedere, Steve and Graham were set on starting a new project and getting back on the road. In the summer of 2006, they recruited John (Forty Cent Fix) all the way from Ottawa. For over a month, Steve and John spent their time working construction, watching The Sopranos, and writing some hot blazing tracks.

In November, the band released two demo songs, "Silvio" and "Better Than All Of Us", through their Myspace page, and received an overwhelming response from listeners worldwide. With the recent addition of Corey (Deville, Inventing The Wheel) on bass, the band has been hard at work writing and rehearsing twelve songs, which is now ready to be released on October 9th 2007 through Two Bucks Records.

To help celebrate the release of THIS IS A STANDOFF's debut album "Be Excited", Two Bucks Records has set up 2 Pre-Order deals:
#1 - CD + T-Shirt Deal
#2 - CD at Special price.

Go to www.twobucksrecords.com/store to begin your pre-order.
Check out www.myspace.com/thisisastandoff for more details about the band and to listen to some tracks off the upcoming album.

Two Bucks Records is proud to announce the release of Day I Die's debut EP titled "Murderess".

With their brutal blend of fast metal and melodic punk, Melbourne's Day I Die have been working extremely hard since day one, with many local shows and the occasional tour always keeping the band busy. With already having two releases, "Demo" (2003 CD/Demo) and "Song In The Key Of Evil" (2004 CD/Demo), MURDERESS is their debut release on the label and their best to date.

After the success of the 2004 CD/Demo "Songs In The Key Of Evil", Day I Die became very well known in their local scene, and attracted a lot of interest which saw the band play some great shows and supports for some international acts.

The band has continued a long a similar path with their song writing compared to previous releases, however with the addition of a new drummer and new guitarist it is sounding more brutal then ever.

With the new EP in stores July 20th 2007, Day I Die will be embarking on a national tour throughout September / October 2007.

Day I Die's CD launch is at the Arthouse Hotel on August 3rd, 2007 with the line up to be confirmed. This will then be followed by a trip to Adelaide, then a tour later in the year.

Coinciding with the opening of the Two Bucks Records Webstore, we have launched a special Pre-Order deal for the new Day I Die EP. One includes a T-Shirt, the other just the CD. For full information on the Pre-Order deals go to www.twobucksrecords.com/store

Saturday March 17th
After a big couple of months, things have started to settle down a bit here at the Two Bucks home. With all the touring out of the way, expect to see a few more shows, few more tours and a few more releases soonish. We have some really exciting news about a show in the works of an old Adelaide band that will be getting together for one last tour. More news on that very soon!

If you haven’t grabbed a copy of the new STRAIGHTAWAY EP, do so. If you’re a big fan of melodic punk rock, then this is the band for you. They are in the process of putting together their new album, so hopefully we can see them on our shores sometime in the near future.

Unfortunately we have some bad news to report. After a demo and a split with Adelaide’s DONKEY KONG, Melbourne’s KING BROWN have decided to call it a day. We wish them all the best with anything they do in the future and we would like to thank them for all the good times. If you haven’t grabbed a copy of the split CD, this is now your opportunity, because once they are gone there won’t be a re-press.

In other news, The Brews have had to cancel their upcoming east coast tour. So if you have a flyer for that tour, cross off all the east coast dates. They will still be doing the Adelaide shows on that tour, so be sure to check them out. We are sorry for any inconvenience and I am sure you will see them on the road very soon. You can catch them supporting The Dropkick Murphy’s at HQ in Adelaide. Also they are working on some new material for an album to be released hopefully sometime late this year. Keep an eye out for that

Finally, we have a couple releases that are about to hit the end of there pressings. As mentioned above, the KING BROWN / DONKEY KONG split, also BEFORE IT ALL END’s self titled debut release and THE JERKS Waiting for the Breakdown are all about to go out of print, so if you are yet to get a copy of these titles and you really want to get them, now is the time.

Wednesday January 24th
Formed in 1999, STRAIGHTAWAY have become one of the acts to look out for in France and the whole of Europe. With influences such as Strung Out, Satanic Surfers, Bodyjar, Ten Foot Pole, Bad Religion, Face To Face, NOFX, No Use For A Name and more, they have gathered a very strong fan basis around the world. In there already short but fast moving career they have managed to share the stage with bands like No Use For A Name, Bigwig, Strung Out, Lagwagon, Coheed & Cambria, A Wilhelm Scream, Ten Foot Pole, Satanic Surfers, The Lawrence Arms, Paint It Black, Belvedere as well as a 5 week long tour over Europe with Useless ID.

Throughout the 6 years of the band's existence, they have worked on elaborating a fast, technical, aggressive but catchy and melodic style of punk rock. The basics of the formula were finally captured and recorded in March 2005 on the 'Emotions and Anger' EP.

With pressings selling out over Europe, the EP has been picked up by Adelaide label Two Bucks Records and will be released on Saturday 27th of January 2007. The CD will contain artwork different from the first European pressing, and it will also contain an extra track, with the whole CD being re-mastered.

Forming in 2000, Stolen Youth have been working extremely hard since day one and have gained a lot of respect Australia wide playing their fast/aggressive style of punk. After the success of the 2005 CDEP “WHEN SPIDERS UNITE”, Stolen Youth went on to support international acts such as Good Riddance, Lagwagon, Ignite, Champion, Madball, Anti-Flag, Lawrence Arms, Suicide Machines, No Use For A Name, Comeback Kid, The Bleeders, Avail, as well as playing the Adelaide Big Day Out Festival in 2006.

The new ten track album was recorded at the famous Soundhouse Studios in Adelaide during July 2006. With promo copies already been sent out to radio stations, some of the tracks off the new album have already hit the air on radio stations around Australia, including on Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud program.
